My name is Yussuf Abrahman Alawi. I am the third born in the family of Mr. Abrahman and Mrs. Zakia. I am one of seven children. I have two older brothers and one younger brother and three sisters. I was born at Wete Pemba hospital in Pemba Island on 03/05/1987.
The Pemba island is one of two islands which known as Zanzibar. Zanzibar is a combination of two islands called Unguja and Pemba. I was born on Pemba but now I am living at Unguja at a place known as Mfenesini.
In 1996 I started my education at Mitiulaya primary school from standard one up to standard seven. I completed my primary education level in 2002 and I qualified very well. I then attended another school called Fidel Castro Secondary school from 2003 to 2006. In 2006 I sat an exam to complete my secondary education level and then continued in 2007 with my education at advanced level at Lumumba Secondary School which is on Unguja island. In February 2009 I completed my advance level education at Lumumba Secondary School and I earned a certificate in a combination of the subjects physics, mathematics and chemistry (PCM).
Work experience and training
From February to September 2012, 500 miles paid for me to get some work experience at the orthopaedic workshop in Stone Town in Zanzibar and then 500 miles arranged for me to study the course of orthopaedic technologist in Tanzania Training Centre for Orthopaedic Technologists (TATCOT) which is in Moshi Tanzania. I am now working towards a diploma in prosthetics and orthotics at TATCOT.
My vision is to make sure that the knowledge that I have been obtaining at TATCOT will be used well to provide a good service in prosthetics and orthotics in my country, especially Zanzibar.
