Velina Kaunda
10 years ago in 2010, when she was 19, Velina Kaunda from Ntchisi, began to notice that her legs were weakening. She was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy and she went on to develop drop foot. 500 miles has made her rigid ankle foot orthoses (braces) which she wears inside her shoes to support her feet. They are trimmed around the ankle bone for maximum flexibility when walking but comfort when standing. She is now functional enough to be able to return to farming and looking after the home and her two young children.
