Samuel Nyumayo

Samuel Nyumayo is a farmer. He is married with 6 children. He was very unfortunate to shoot his own leg in a hunting accident in 1986 when he was a young man of 26. Instead of rushing to hospital, he stayed at home for 5 days by which time the leg had developed gangrene and had to be amputated through the femur.

Before 500 miles went on outreach to Embangweni, Samuel did not even know that prostheses existed. Samuel came to MCH for his appointment in September 2016 on crutches but two weeks later he walked out on two legs. Have a look at the videos. He told Benedeta that he is very thankful to 500 miles because after 30 years of walking with crutches, his life has changed. He will be able to do his farm very much more easily.
