Alisha Andrew

Alisha, now 6 years old, was born with a club foot on the right side and on the left side, a club foot and partial foot deformity in that the second to fifth toes are missing. In 2022, Alisha had two surgeries at Beit CURE to correct her right club foot and from there she was referred to 500 miles for a right side post-surgical ankle foot orthosis which we made for her. However, we also noticed the issues with her left foot and that her left leg is about 2cm shorter than the right, and thought she might benefit from a partial foot fitting, also designed to compensate for a 2cm leg length discrepancy. Both devices were fitted on the same day.

Before receiving treatment, Alisha was unable to walk long distances and had to be carried. She would not have been able to attend to school. Her mother was very happy to see her daughter walking independently. We expect that Alisha started primary school in September!

40% of the cost of Alisha’s devices was met by Beit CURE but One Smile paid the balance. Alisha wants to be a nurse. She will need many more devices as she grows up!
