Jamie announces Titanium Man – his biggest challenge yet?
In order to get 500 miles off to a flying start Jamie is launching the fundraising by setting himself a challenge!
On the fourth of August, here in Scotland, he is going to attempt to complete an Iron Man Triathlon length event. That involves:
- 2.4 mile swim
- 112 mile cycle
- 26.2 mile run
All non-stop in 24 hours!
Iron Man Triathlon is widely considered as one of the most gruelling feats of athletic endurance, even for able-bodied athletes, and for Jamie as a quadruple amputee this looks set to be his biggest challenge yet!
Iron Man is a registered trade mark, so instead this is Titanium Man, named after the high performance metal of which Jamie’s prosthetic leg components are made. Of course titanium is harder than iron!
